A Weekend With Back-to-back Races

Greenfield Sunset Run, 21K, April 24

It was my first time to set foot at Greenfield Subdivision and noticed that race course was mostly flat, with a portion of asphalt, and the rest of the road was cement concrete pavement.

Reaching the activity area, I saw a good number of runners already. While waiting for the race to start, the emcee announced that gun start for each category was adjusted which, to me was more than OK. It was no easy race, especially, with the hot weather we had last Saturday.

There was a traffic control problem on our way back to the finish line. I was already running where the orange markers were. Also, one or two water stations ran out of cups that I had to drink water from the big bottle.

All 21K finishers got a finisher’s medal. Also, freebies, courtesy of Unilab and Greenfield, were given to all runners. Overall, it was still a good race.

I arrived late at my place. Didn’t have enough sleep for next day’s 10K race. Many thanks to Carina a.k.a. Flying Boar of Takbo.ph for the ride.

VSO-PNA Kabahagi Fun Run, 10K, April 25

I ran in this event to show my support to VSO and PNA fund raising activity. There were not too many runners though (estimate of 500). I’ve learned that there were other races held all at the same time last Sunday.

The fun run turned out well with a good number of delegates from Philippine Nursing Association (PNA), lively emcee, short and meaningful messages from VSO and PNA officers, good number of marshals, Pocari drinks at every water station, route was a hilly start-McKinley, British Embassy, part of Lawton, Bayani until Heritage Park and back. The activity area was at Piazza Venice. Some elite runners were there. The fun run was conducted well.

Maraming salamat sa mga nakibahagi! Many thanks to Marvin a.k.a. Nuttybunny of Takbo.ph for this photo.
