Soleus Running Philippines is proud to present their newest member in the Soleus family, William Flores.
William Flores is a Peruvian International Zumba® Fitness instructor, a great performer for almost four years now, and has performed at several major dance events in the United States, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Malta, France, Italy, Ireland, Dubai, and Singapore.
He had three years as a dancer under his belt teaching and dancing ballet, modern dance, jazz, reggaeton, salsa, cumbia, folk dance, merengue, and hip hop. His love for dance and his joy creates a new world for all who come to his class. He gives 110% on every performance and he cares about his students both outside and inside the Zumba® Fitness center. His name is undoubtedly growing in the dance world.
This coming February 2017, experience Sabor Latino 100% for the very first time in Manila, Philippines!
Many thanks to Betty Romero of Lifeline Foundation for inviting me to join the Dance for Life, a four-hour dance marathon held on November 22 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila. If not for the invite, l wouldn’t have known that she knew my friend Ruth from way back.
The warm up dance was led by no other than the Police Zumba Group. Then it was followed by the playing of non-stop versatile vintage sound with all the staple grooves of the 60s and 70s jams, urban beats of the 80s and 90s including a taste of hip hop dance led by a Zumba instructor.
I could have danced, danced, danced up to the end of the dance marathon, but Ruth’s baby Solenne was tired already so we decided to cut short our dance participation and capped it with a dinner at Harbor View.
The dance marathon was well attended and very well received by a large group of participants. Given the success of this event, l wouldn’t be surprised if there would be a repeat next year. Just finished attending an event launch last October 22, when I got an invite from Betty Romero, Deputy Director of Lifeline Foundation for their event launch the next day. But I couldn’t attend due to an earlier commitment. That’s why, I was thankful for the efforts made by two fellow bloggers, Tonette of healthjunkie.ph when she posted about it in a bloggers group, and Ross Del Rosario, founder and editor of wazzuppilipinas.com, who said YES and attended the launch on my behalf.
I couldn’t be happier as I start the next day with purpose and drive knowing everything’s taken care of by both of them. I have supported Lifeline Foundation’s advocacies in the past via this blog. And, I wouldn’t hesitate to support them again this year. Lifeline Foundation advocates changing the world one life at a time. Thus, the event is for the Foundation to raise funds for the rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts for victims whose lives were affected by Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) almost a year ago now. Dance Unite! : One United Move and Groove to Raise Funds for the Rebuilding of Yolanda-Stricken Areas

The Yolanda-stricken communities are still in the process of rehabilitation so we could bring back a new and improved-for-the-better Central Visayas. It was such a touching experience hearing about lots of relief donations in many forms, from cash to kind, from service to celebrity visits, to the Philippines after the Yolanda or internationally known Haiyan tragedy.
However, we must not stop helping because the storm may be over, but the tragedy is still very clear in memory for those affected especially when they are now starting again from scratch, or from what little remains of their personal belongings or properties. The noble efforts must continue if we really want to.
It would be of great help if we help rebuild their lives that have been devastated by a cruel weather disturbance that left many of our countrymen feeling so hopeless and forsaken after the loss of their loved ones and homes.
Thus, it is with great admiration to keep seeing movements for the benefit of these Yolanda-stricken areas. I understand that the process to recover will take years so all the efforts are well appreciated. Among the many organizations that have partnered together to bring back hope for the Yolanda survivors are the Lifeline Foundation and Food for the Hungry.
They are now back to offer once a again a dance marathon dubbed as Dance Unite!: One United Move and Groove to Raise Funds for the Rebuilding of Yolanda—Stricken Areas.Whew! It’s such a long event title!
At a press conference held last October 23 at the Slice restaurant located at Bonifacio Global City, the organizers announced their upcoming dance marathon event scheduled on 22 Nov. 2014 at the Quirino Grandstand of Manila.
The press conference was led by Lifeline Foundation Deputy Director Betty Romero, with short talks from Owen Rea, the Research Development Manager of Food for the Hungry, and Andy Gomez from the Philippine Tackle Football League. Judy Jamolangue, Project Director for Dance Unite was also present.
The organizers are targeting around 3,000 participants coming from call centers and BPOs, colleges and universities, NGOs, and other organizations, but of course, the more would be merrier and really awesome! Proceeds will go to different community livelihood, education and empowerment projects and initiatives.
The organizers also played a video showing celebrities and soon-to-be husband and wife Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, or otherwise known as “DongYan”.
“Sample! Sample!,” they say so all press conference attendees and event organizers showed off their dancing prowess led by a dance instructor. Everyone eagerly swayed to the beat and moved to the rhythm of the dance music!

I considered it as one of my power songs knowing that my Condura marathon training is almost at end. Was I glad to know that Takbo.ph group was cooking this dance video to be shown in Hong Kong using my favorite tune. I didn’t have any plan of joining this dance video but still I went to the venue after my practice run at the Fort out of curiosity. But I ended up as one of the dancers instead.
If you think that we had previous practices prior to this one, you’re mistaken. The group tried the steps more than a couple of times. That was it. Thanks to Julie a.k.a.
