March is Fire Prevention Month
Summer in the Philippines can be so hot that it causes to as many as 10,000 fire incidents nationwide. Thus at the onset of March, the country celebrates Fire Prevention Month to promote awareness as well as educate households to lessen or prevent the incidence of fire.
Unknown to many, we have some ardent runners who are, at the same time, fire prevention advocates. Following the success of last year’s inaugural run, once again the Philippine Institute of Quezon City Alumni Association, together with St. Peter the Apostle School Alumni Association, brings you back the second edition of Race Against Raze (RAR2) happening on March 17 at 4:30am at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City (near Lexus and MC Depot).
It has 3km (Php450), 5km (Php550), 10km (Php550) and 16km (Php650) categories. For categories 3km, 5km and 10km, only the first 100 finishers will get a finisher’s medal. Finishers of the 16km race will get both the finisher’s medal and shirt.
Registration has already started and will end on February 14. You can get P100 off of your registration fee if you get to register online on or before February 14 through Pep Squad Events.

The month of March in the Philippines is declared as fire prevention month. The monthlong celebration aims to increase public awareness on ways of preventing fires and saving lives. As their way of supporting this advocacy, TXTFIRE Philippines, a non-profit foundation, will hold its first TXTFIRE Fire Run dubbed as Takbo Laban Sa Sunog (Run Against Fire) at the SM Mall of Asia grounds on May 27 at 4AM.
Aside from raising fire safety awareness, proceeds of this fun run will also be used to install icebox equipment in hospitals and institutions all over Metro Manila. The box is a fire alarm equipment that uses SMS or text messages to transmit fire alarm directly to TXTFIRE Control Center, a quicker way to respond to fire emergency cases.
There’ll be 3K, 5K, and 10K categories. It also features by company, school, community, etc. and the bombero groups as special categories.
Your participation will surely be a big boost to their Helping Filipino Saves Lives and Properties campaign.
