Isuzu Shake, Rattle and Run, 31 October 2008

Halloween (or Hallowe’en) is not really a typical Filipino tradition. In the 19th century, Irish and Scottish immigrants brought this to North America and was embraced as a holiday celebrated on October 31. It includes activities such as trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o’-lanterns, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies. More often than not, tabloids and television programs feature scary or ghost stories.

Pinoys, on the other hand, celebrate this in time for All Saints Day and All Souls Day with a twist of fun. This year, Isuzu Philippines and Energizer sponsor the Isuzu, Shake, Rattle and Run, the first 5km Halloween night run at the Fort. Exciting prizes await finishers as well as the Best Male and Best Female Costume winners.

As a spectator, I’ve watched runners whizzed by as runaway brides, native-guy-on-the-run, Cupid, a guy and a lady clad in bathrobe and towel just like when one is taking a shower, fallen angels, Chef, la la la. It was really fun!

Congratulations to Rio for winning the Best Male Costume category.

Here are some photos which I grabbed from Doc Gigi’s, Wilbert’s and Vimz’ sites. Thanks to all of you!
