Successful Opening of Under Armour’s SM Megamall Branch

22 Oct 2014 — It’s fantastic to have witnessed the recent grand opening of the second botique of Under Armour (UA) located at SM Megamall in Ortigas, Mandaluyong City.  Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Brandon “The Truth” Vera, together with local celebrity athletes, VIPs, and guests kick off the grand opening event by cutting the ribbon (using a chain) in style .

The UA brand personifies a gritty and real stance endorsed by no other than renowned athletes such as former Ateneo volleyball player Gretchen Ho and football star of the women national team Natasha Alquiros. The store offers a variety and colorful Fall/Winter collections.

The special launch event highlights a high-intensity six-minute interval workout dubbed as Under Armour Assault gamely participated by celebrity athletes under the guidance and coaching staff from Crossfit Mad Minute. CrossFit aka “the sport of fitness” is basically a timed and scored strength and conditioning program for athletes that focuses on pretty shorter but intense workouts to effectively burn calories, develops endurance, and strengthens core muscles.  It amazes me to see these women athletes doing the same exercises as competitively as the men! With them during the UA celebrity challenge are the equally energetic hosts Anthony Suntay and Patricia Hizon.

The UA is distributed in the Philippines through an exclusive partnership with Triple Pte. Ltd and its Megamall location was made possible by local retailer, Grupo Athletica. Definitely kudos to the “Dream Team” for doing such a good job! Super thanks to Judith Staples and Jérémy Callegher for having me at the UA Megamall launch event.

Earlier this month, I was invited at the launch of Zoot footwear held at RIOVANA, Bonifacio High Street.  It sparked my interest to attend the event since I’ve wanted to know more about the products, especially, the compression.  It was hosted by Light ‘N Up Marketing, Inc., exclusive distributor of Zoot in the Philippines with Zoot Brand Manager, Auty Villarama, as speaker.  The launch was attended by some blogging friends.  The discussion centered on introducing its newest collection of footwear, apparel, and compression.  Super thanks to Maggie Magdangal and Auty for having me at the event. Here’s the recap of the presentation.

Riovana: the Sole of Running

Riovana is a one-stop shop for all running gears, apparels and shoes with facilities where runners can hang out in the lounge area and register for races.  It is the brainchild of Rio Dela Cruz, also known as Coach Rio to the running community.  Riovana is derived from the founder’s name Rio and the word nirvana, which means enlightenment and freedom.

Its tagline, the sole of running, suggests that Riovana, as a concept store, is the heart and soul of running. It has a wide array of running footwear, accessories, and apparels.  It features Gait Analysis, a method of checking the movement and posture of an individual using a three-camera setup that helps determine one’s foot type and fitness level in order to find the right pair of running shoes.

Also included in the store is the Sole Healing Section which is a massage and recovery center for runners. It is manned by qualified sports doctors, orthopedic surgeons, and therapists.  It offers various types of treatments to help manage sports injuries, sore muscles, relax the runners, and give the most memorable and unique post-running experience.
You may visit Riovana at the following addresses:

G/F Active Fun Building, 9th Avenue corner 28th Street, Bonifacio Global City near Honda BGC and at the 3/F of the Regis Center Building, Loyola Heights Quezon City in front of Ateneo de Manila University.
