Under Armour Expands Reach in the Philippines as it opens its New Brand House at TriNoma

Regarded as the most innovative sports and fitness clothing line in the world today, Under Armour (UA) is launching its fifth UA branch at Level 3 of the TriNoma Mall in Quezon City on August 12, Friday.

Its grand opening is happening on August 13, Saturday with Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) superstars Asi Taulava and Jervy Cruz serving as special guests.  Filipino-Tongan cager Taulava or “TheRock” strutted his basketball prowess on the PBA court for 16 years in five different teams, copped the league’s Most Valuable Player trophy in 2003, and led the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters to the All-Filipino Conference title in the same year.

He represented the flag and country in international competitions as he suited up for the Philippine national team on several occasions.  He is currently the starting center of the NLEX Road Warriors.

Meanwhile, Cruz rose to prominence in the collegiate ranks when he steered the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Promised Land in 2006.  Proving that skill could topple height, Cruz managed to elevate his on-court stature as a legitimate inside threat in his first few years in the PBA, now part of the most prominent PBA team in the country, Ginebra.

Taulava and Cruz will offer a special treat to UA aficionados as both men are slated to conduct a basketball clinic on August 13 at 4 PM at the TriNoma activity center.  Aside from Taulava’s and Cruz’s free basketball workshop, UA fans will also be given a chance to unleash their inner Stephen Curry with the UA Basketball Shootout Challenge, where qualified contestants will go head-to-head by showcasing their three-point shooting skills.

In order to join the basketball clinic and UA Basketball Shootout Challenge, a single receipt purchase of at least P 2,000 from August 12 to August 13 at the UA TriNoma brand house will earn an exclusive pass to the festivities and a chance to take home awesome prizes.

UA’s TriNoma brand house, the sporting apparel’s fifth branch in the Philippines and fourth in Metro Manila, is expected to have the top–of–the–line Curry 2.5 and the highly acclaimed UA Charged Bandit 2 on its shelves.  Designed for NBA’s most prolific point guard, Curry 2.5 is molded in synthetic upper that is wrapped closely around the foot for a lightweight and precise fit.

In addition, Curry 2.5 has an external PU shell that provides durable support and structure as well as an external shank and heel counter that delivers locked-in stability through heel, arch and forefoot to maintain balance.

Nike Unveiled New Running Technologies and Nature Amplified Design Ethos

NIKE, Inc. introduced its latest innovations, the Nike Free Flyknit and Nike Free Hyperfeel, along with two new apparel technologies, Aeroloft and Dri-FIT Knit designed to enhance runners’ natural abilities.  These new technologies were guided by Nike’s Nature Amplified design ethos, an approach that is focused on the body in motion design fueled by scientific data and athlete insights.
Innovation is not about creating for its own sake, it’s about creating something better, designing with a purpose. Running is the heart and soul of Nike and it’s the birthplace of a constant stream of new innovations that will drive the company forward,” said Mark Parker, President & CEO of NIKE, Inc.
Women’s (blue) and Men’s (green) Nike Free Flyknit
The Nike Free Flyknit is the fusion of two of Nike’s most iconic footwear technologies, the compressive Nike Flyknit upper and the flexible Nike Free outsole. The Nike Free Flyknit upper features zoned performance mapping and a second-skin fit. The shoe provides the benefits of natural motion and a snug, supportive fit in a single shoe.

The Nike Free Flyknit is available at select Philippine Nike Stores beginning August 1 of this year.
Designed to feel like an extension of the body by minimizing layers between the foot and the ground, the Nike Free Hyperfeel delivers a natural motion sensation for the runner. A drop-in insole made from Lunarlon foam allows the foot to have direct contact with Lunarlon cushioning. The ultra-thin waffle outsole uses strategically placed waffle pistons for grip and feel, allowing the foot to get closer to the ground.
Nike Aeroloft technology also debuted in the ultra-light Nike Aeroloft 800 Vest, designed to keep runners warm and comfortable in cooler conditions. Insulating down has been combined with precision ventilation that allows heat to escape the body so athletes stay dry.
Nike Dri-FIT Knit is an ultra-soft, lightweight fabric engineered to help athletes maintain optimal performance temperature in a variety of conditions. The technology employs visibly different knit patterns to aid breathability, while seamless construction ensures a smooth fit free of distraction.

The Nike Dri-FIT Knit is now available at Nike Park The Fort.
Nature Amplified means designing for bodies in motion and creating incredible new products that work intuitively with the human body,” said Trevor Edwards, NIKE Brand President. “The footwear and apparel we’ve unveiled today is based on insights from athletes and runners at every level, combined with extensive research in our Sport Research Lab. These innovations are data-driven, but body-led.”
