Run for Japan, April 17

The record-setting 8.9 magnitude [later reported to have reached 9.0] trembler and ensuing tsunami that recently hit Japan caused hundreds of billions of dollars worth of damage to property and claimed thousands of lives. As a show of support to those affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the Filipino running community will come together at Bonifacio Global City for the Run for Japan.

How it Came About …

“Men for others.  Pinoy for others.  Just like what they taught us in school.” – Raffy Santos

Rovic Canono and Rafael Santos, organizers of the Greentennial Run, were willing and along with many volunteers, figured putting together a run in such short notice and thought it was worth their while. Japan, because of their recent multiple disasters, was an obvious cause for which Filipinos can come together and work on.   The response of the runners seemed to reinforce that idea.

The run will have three event categories:  3K, 5K and 10K. The first 4000 registrants will get a souvenir singlet. Online registration is ongoing courtesy of Runner’s Runner, who donated their services for the cause. On site registration will be at R.O.X. at Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City, which started at 2PM last March 27, 2011.  Registration fee is [only] P350.  Part of this will be donated directly to the Japanese Red Cross Society.  Donation will be via transfer to their bank account as found on
