Cycling Enthusiasts Joined 2015 BGC Cycle Asia Philippines

Manila, Philippines, 28 Nov. 2015 – Filipino riders geared up for another bike action around the roads at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City on November 21-22 during the third edition of the BGC Cycle Asia Philippines.

Around 2,000 cycling enthusiasts joined the  exciting and challenging event, which featured categories not only for adults and families but also for children.  The BGC Cycle Asia Philippines is one of Cycle Asia’s network of premier cycling events across the region which offers bikers an opportunity to ride on safe closed public roads in major Asian cities, one of which is Manila. In partnership with Cycle Asia and BGC, the cycling event was made possible by organizer Sunrise Events, Inc.

Before the ride events, participating families were entertained with fun activities in the Cycling and Lifestyle Expo at the Ascott BGC Manila, the official residence of the BGC Cycle Asia Philippines for 2016.

The fun cycling action started  in the morning of November 21, Saturday via the kiddie ride categories with a 30-minute Junior Challenge Ride, followed by the Kid’s Ride and Tricycle Ride categories.  On  November 22,  Sunday the Adult Ride categories commenced.  The presence and special participation of Australian former PRO cyclist and three-time Tour de France green jersey sprinter’s classification winner Robbie McEwen highlighted the adult ride.  It was followed by the 40-km Challenge Ride and the 20-km Community and Foldies Community Rides.

The participation in Cycle Philippines through the years have shown us that cycling is here to stay and that it is going beyond being a hobby and sport where people are more and more using it as an alternative mode of transportation to get around the metro. This insight pushed us to implement more bike racks around the city.  Furthermore, it also inspired us to experiment with a bike-sharing program which will be launched in the near future,” said Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation commercial operations head  Manuel Blas II.

Supported by the local government of Taguig City and with BGC as title sponsor, BGC Cycle Asia Philippines has attracted additional partnerships: Gatorade (hydration), 2Go Express (official courier and logistics partner), and Ascott BGC as the official residence including Subaru, Rudy Project, Scott Bikes, Rocktape, Regent, Garmin, Pioneer Insurance, Herbalife, Storybook.ph, Skippy’s bar and Grill and Purefoods Sexy Chix.

Philippine Star and ABS-CBN Sports+Action are the event’s media partners while Goya and Cetaphil are its marketing partners. Check out BGC Cycle Asia Philippines’ official website at www.cyclephilippines.com.ph.
