Inaugural Great UP Run to Kickstart the 2019 UAAP Season

As part of NoWhereToGoButUP Foundation’s thrust to support the Varsity Teams of the University of the Philippines and in partnership with RUNRIO Events, the Foundation presents the inaugural The Great UP Run to be held on August 11 at University of the Philippines (UP), Diliman, Quezon City. Designed to be an annual event, the race is set to start the upcoming season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines or UAAP.

The event is targeting 3,000 runners participating in any of the 3 KM (P 600), 5 KM (P 700), 10 KM (P 800)or 21 KM (P 1,100) categories. Also expected to take part are UP varsity athletes, UP students and faculty from all campuses, UP Alumni, family, friends, and supporters of the UP community.

Registered runners will receive, as part of their race kit, a singlet, a race bib, timing chip and a loot bag. Apart from these entitlements, 21 KM runners, who will successfully finish the race, will receive a finisher’s shirt and a finisher’s medal.

Online registration has already started. Interested participants can visit the The Great UP Run Page on the RUNRIO Events website to register. Online registration is available until July 29. Target in-store registration schedule is from July 23 to August 10, and on race day. Registration venues include Olympic Village branches: Trinoma, Fairview Terraces, Market! Market! and Alabang Town Center; and, at UP Diliman-College of Human Kinetics. Proceeds of the fees will go to the UP athletes through the NoWhereToGoButUP Foundation.

Liability Waiver & Race Agreement

The Great UP Run is a sundown race with gun start scheduled at 4:30 PM for the 21 KM category,  4:45 PM for the 10 KM category, 5:00 PM for the 5 KM category, and 5:05 PM for the 3 KM.

During the conduct of the race, all roads that form part of the race route will be partially closed and will be reopened after the set cutoff for each race category, or four hours after the official race start for the 21 KM, 2 hours for the 10 KM, and 1 hour for the 5 KM and 3 KM respectively.

Category winners will receive awards from the organizers and its sponsors. Immediately after the awards ceremony, a concert will follow featuring homegrown UP artists. Other details about this race can be accessed from either the Runrio Facebook Page or from its website.
