Under Armour Expands Reach in the Philippines as it opens its New Brand House at TriNoma

Regarded as the most innovative sports and fitness clothing line in the world today, Under Armour (UA) is launching its fifth UA branch at Level 3 of the TriNoma Mall in Quezon City on August 12, Friday.

Its grand opening is happening on August 13, Saturday with Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) superstars Asi Taulava and Jervy Cruz serving as special guests.  Filipino-Tongan cager Taulava or “TheRock” strutted his basketball prowess on the PBA court for 16 years in five different teams, copped the league’s Most Valuable Player trophy in 2003, and led the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters to the All-Filipino Conference title in the same year.

He represented the flag and country in international competitions as he suited up for the Philippine national team on several occasions.  He is currently the starting center of the NLEX Road Warriors.

Meanwhile, Cruz rose to prominence in the collegiate ranks when he steered the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Promised Land in 2006.  Proving that skill could topple height, Cruz managed to elevate his on-court stature as a legitimate inside threat in his first few years in the PBA, now part of the most prominent PBA team in the country, Ginebra.

Taulava and Cruz will offer a special treat to UA aficionados as both men are slated to conduct a basketball clinic on August 13 at 4 PM at the TriNoma activity center.  Aside from Taulava’s and Cruz’s free basketball workshop, UA fans will also be given a chance to unleash their inner Stephen Curry with the UA Basketball Shootout Challenge, where qualified contestants will go head-to-head by showcasing their three-point shooting skills.

In order to join the basketball clinic and UA Basketball Shootout Challenge, a single receipt purchase of at least P 2,000 from August 12 to August 13 at the UA TriNoma brand house will earn an exclusive pass to the festivities and a chance to take home awesome prizes.

UA’s TriNoma brand house, the sporting apparel’s fifth branch in the Philippines and fourth in Metro Manila, is expected to have the top–of–the–line Curry 2.5 and the highly acclaimed UA Charged Bandit 2 on its shelves.  Designed for NBA’s most prolific point guard, Curry 2.5 is molded in synthetic upper that is wrapped closely around the foot for a lightweight and precise fit.

In addition, Curry 2.5 has an external PU shell that provides durable support and structure as well as an external shank and heel counter that delivers locked-in stability through heel, arch and forefoot to maintain balance.

New Under Armour Basketball Signature Shoe Curry Two Launched

National Basketball Association superstar Stephen Curry and Oscar winning actor Jamie Foxx teamed up to launch the highly acclaimed Curry Two shoe from Under Armour (UA).

The first basketball shoe to feature a full-length Charged Cushioning midsole unit and a UA SpeedForm seamless upper, the Curry Two was first unveiled by Curry during his Asian tour on the UA Road Show on September 6 in Shanghai, China, and was made available at retail globally on October 2015.

The new spot, created by award-winning agency Droga5 and entitled, “Flash,” illuminates Curry’s unparalleled skill set, which continues to transform the game of basketball.

Foxx provides a narrative that questions, “How long does it take to change the game of basketball?” The emphatic response is, “.4 seconds,” which is the amount of time it takes for Curry to release a shot, the fastest ever measured.  Amidst explosions of light, sparks and smoke, Curry unleashes an array of moves in an explosive sequence, as Foxx narrates his journey to the top and his lasting effect on the sport.

“Stephen is a generational talent and through hard work and self-belief he’s doing things on a basketball court that is impacting how the game is played, coached and seen by fans throughout the world,” said UA global brand and sports marketing vice president Peter Murray. “This new story, featuring Stephen in the new Curry Two, showcases his dynamic skill set which is inspiring a new generation of basketball players to challenge the foundation of the game and lead the new era of basketball.”

The spot features the Iron Sharpens Iron Curry Two, the lead colourway of Stephen’s second signature shoe. Inspired by Stephen’s relentless commitment and dedication to make his teammates better through his play and leadership, the Iron Sharpens Iron Curry Two features a grey upper with a back layer of yellow that pops through perforated patterning, as well as a midsole with orange to yellow fade that incorporates detailed speckles to represent the forging of metal. Stephen’s motto, “Make My Teammates Better,” serves as the foundation for how Stephen mentally approaches the game of basketball.

Created with a full-length Charged Cushioning midsole unit and a UA SpeedForm seamless upper, the Curry Two is engineered for basketball’s next great game changer.   “The first time I put my foot in the Curry Two, I knew having Charged Cushioning through the whole shoe would be a performance difference-maker,” said Curry.  “I’ve been wearing the Curry Two all summer in my workouts, and I’m excited that the design and performance of the shoe will not just enhance my game, but it will provide all basketball players with real innovation that works.”

The full-length Charged Cushioning Charged Cushioning® System unit in the midsole absorbs impact and converts it into a responsive burst to enhance Stephen’s first-step and change of direction.

The UA SpeedForm® Technology  upper moulds precisely to Stephen’s foot, providing free range of motion and strategic stability so he can stop and go, cut and change speed without restrictions. The perforated engineering in the UA SpeedForm keeps the Curry Two lightweight with durable breathability.

The Curry Two’s external heel counter also locks in the foot and eliminates sliding for a secure fit. The rubber outsole with an organic herringbone traction pattern offers supreme underfoot control and multi-directional grip of the court. External shanks in the arch and forefoot provide midfoot and lateral stability.  A high abrasion skin on the toe tip increases durability to support Stephen’s quickness and change of pace.

In the Curry Two, Stephen has freedom of movement, responsive cushioning and strategic stability,” says UA design, footwear and accessories vice president Dave Dombrow. “What makes Stephen great is that he plays the game like no one we’ve ever seen, and at any moment he’s going to do something on the court we didn’t think possible.  We drew from that to build him a shoe that allows him to play untethered and unpredictable, while staying in complete control of his every movement and speed.”

You can check Iron Sharpens Iron Curry Two at the UA Bonifacio High Street, SM Megamall, UP Town centre and at selected stores of Tobys, Titan, Olympic Village and Planet Sports.   Additional colour ways will be released over the rest of the quarter till Christmas.
